FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
KINDNESS FOUNDATION SETS MAJOR
FUND RAISER WITH “BIRDIES FOR CHARITY”
When the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic tees up for the PGA stop in Biloxi, MS, players and the public alike will have the opportunity to support one of Mississippi’s premier charities, the Kindness Foundation. The tournament will be held March 30 through April 2 at the beautiful Fallen Oak Golf Course in Biloxi. Fallen Oak, designed by Tom Fazio for the Beau Rivage Resort, has been cited by Golf Magazine as the top course you can play in Mississippi.
According to Peggy Braswell, Chairperson for the effort, “We successfully raised nearly $320,000 during our 14 year participation with Birdies for Charity through Century Club Charities in Jackson, but the program was discontinued after 2015,” “This year, we are excited to resume our participation in Birdies for Charity through the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic with a goal of raising $35,000,” she added.
Kindness Foundation, based in Hattiesburg, Mississippi has provided Bibles, Biblical lesson plans, and teacher training for the public schools of Russia since the Russian Department of Education adopted the recommendations of Dr. Olga Lutsenko and her colleagues to use the Bible as the basis of the moral education and cultural values for their schools in the early 1990’s. By the mid-90s, Dr. Olga Lutsenko founded Fond Dobro (The Kindness Foundation) to raise money for the program.
How does Birdies for Charity work? Persons who wish to support the Kindness Foundation can pledge a certain amount per birdie, or make a one-time contribution. For non-golfers, a birdie is one stroke less than par for a hole.
The amount of your pledge can be figured by using 750 for the number of birdies anticipated by the PGA tour professionals. As an example, an individual pledge of $.03 per birdie x 750 birdies would amount to a pledge of $22.50 or a corporate pledge of $3 per birdie x 750 birdies would result in a pledge of $2,250.
The entire sum of the pledge or donation goes directly to the Kindness Foundation and each donation increases the opportunity for Kindness to earn “Bonus Bucks,” or additional funds. All donations and pledges are tax-deductible.
As an added bonus, persons entering the “Guess the Birdies” contest on the pledge form have an opportunity to win the grand prize as long as the pledge form is received by March 30.
Pledges for the Kindness Foundation can be made online by visiting www.kindnessfocus.org, or for a pledge form to be mailed, call 601-545-9090. The deadline to submit a pledge is Friday, May 5. Pledge forms should be mailed to:
